AKWA IBOM CAR ASSEMBLING PLANT FOR COMMISSIONING, MAY 2022

The MIMSHAC-MERKAVIM Automobile Plant in Akwa Ibom State, will be ready for commissioning within the first half of next year.

The automobile plant was one of the pioneer industries that the governor flagged off in 2015, and Governor Emmanuel is determined to ensure that the factory commences operations by May 29,2021.

Mr. Emmanuel, accompanied by some members of his executive council, visited the vehicle Assembly Plant at Ikot Ukap, Itu Local Government Area, where he extracted commitment from the top Management of the Company handling the project, Mimshac Transportation Technologies, that the project will be completed in six months.

The Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Economic Development and Ibom Deep Seaport, Mr. Akan Okon, who spoke to journalists following the Governor’s visit, assured that arrangement was underway for not less than twenty youths from the state to embark on training in Israel for technology transfer.

The training of the student sent abroad will last for 6 weeks and they students would become experts in automobile assembling.

The Commissioner added that the project, when completed will draw a lot of economic developments to the state, in terms of job creation and revenue generation.

“The whole gamut of economic activities associated with such industry will be experienced in the state.’

The Managing Director, Valentino Okorie, explained that his company is waiting to take delivery of Complete Knock Down (CKD) and Semi Knock Down (SKD) components to facilitate the take off of the factory.

The Managing Director of the company, Engr. Valentino Okorie assured that the last set of components for the factory will arrived before December, assuring that
it will be the largest vehicle assembling plant in the country.

“The facility is at 90% completion, and it is the first car assembling plant in the South South region of Nigeria.

“Very soon, over 3000 direct staff would be employed and 25 sent abroad for a 6 weeks training in automobile assembling.

“The automobile plant has 6 production lines with a capacity to chun out 5 conventional vehicles, 18 cars/ SUVs, 13 mini buses,

Cross River Set to Host Largest Gathering of Entrepreneurs in August

The Cross River State government in partnership with Leaders Den Foundation is set for another edition of the “Spirit of Enterprise” conference in celebration of the 2021 World Entrepreneurs Day.

The conference, designed to be one of the biggest gathering of entrepreneurs culminates with the prestigious Spirit of Enterprise Awards on the 27th of August, 2021 by 10:am at the EDC Conference Hall of the Prof. Eyo Ita House, Calabar, Cross River State.

A major highlight of the event is the entrepreneurship and innovation dialogue by seasoned Speakers, with a theme: “The Effects of Industrialization Development”.

The Spirit of Enterprise conference is an annual event initiated to create opportunities for aspiring and emerging entrepreneurs to showcase investment opportunities in the Industrialization drive of the state.

The event is to be flagged-off by the Chief Host, the Governor of Cross River State, His Excellency Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade and is organized by the Special Assistant to the Governor of Cross River State on Entrepreneurship Development, Mr. Great Ogban.

A keynote address is to be delivered by the Honorable Commissioner for Industries, Hon. Peter Egba and the Chairman of the Event Rt. Hon. George O’ben-Etchi who will thereafter unveil Nominees for the Spirit of Enterprise Awards 2021 billed to happen later this year in November.

Director-General of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development of Nigeria (SMEDAN), Dr Dikko Padda is the Special Guest of Honour while other high wired Speakers include the Cross River State Commissioner for Finance, Hon. Asuquo Ekpenyong Jnr.

C’River, NASME Partner To Develop Small Scale Businesses – Blue Eagle

Cross River State Government has expressed its readiness to partner the National Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (NASME) to develop small and medium scale businesses in the state.

Governor Ben Ayade made this known in Calàbar when he recieved the leadership of NASME in his office, assuring the group that his government has put institutional frameworks in place to provide ease of doing business in Cross River.

Ayade who was represented by the Commissioner, Ministry of International Development Cooperation, Dr Inyang Asibong said the visit of the group will provide a forum for interaction, and adoption of a concerted approach to issues of strategic importance to the development of MSMEs in the state.

NASME is the only Nigerian private sector -led BMO affiliated to the World Association of Small & Medium Enterprises (WASME) enjoying consultative status with the United Nations.


Cross River State is proud to associate with NASME because of its strategic importance and status as a unit of Business Membership Organization (BMO) assisted through strategic collaborations with UNIDO, UNDP, IFC,Federal Ministries, several embassies and bilateral Chambers of Commerce on its various projects.
